WUMA 2-DAY SEMINAR/GRADING APPLICATION

FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF PROFESSIONAL MARTIAL ARTISTS

Catering for: japanese, Chinese, Korean & Western Freestyle Martial Arts

ATTENTION: IT IS IMPERATIVE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE FULLY BEFORE YOU APPLY.

THE WEEKEND INCLUDES: Freestyle & Kickboxing Syllabus up to Blackbelt level, Street Defence Drills, New Knife Defence, Full-Contact Techniques & Training Routines, Pressure Points, Releases, Semi-Contact Training Routines, Weapon Training, Padwork, Security/Bodyguard Control & Restraints, Block & Evasion Techniques.

Richards first competition was in March of 1978 and during his 20 years of competition he travelled the world picking up vast knowledge for the ring and also for street self defence. Richard has been a doorman for 40 years and worked in some of Britains roughest nightclubs. This knowledge can now be shared with you in his special seminar. Richard has developed his own system called HOP KUIN DO, a special freestyle syllabus with proven results. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO LEARN EVEN MORE!

GRADING INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all WUMA schools & members (WUMA licence required)

You do not have to grade to partake in the seminar.

April & October 2024: Somerset Kickboxing Academy, 31-35 Eastover, Bridgwater TA6 5AW, UK

TIMES

11:00am - 4:00pm Saturday (Seminar)

11:00am - 4:00pm Sunday (Seminar)

11:00am - 7:00pm Sunday (Blackbelt Grading)

SPECTATORS & INSTRUCTORS

There are NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED at any point of the seminar/grading.
Instructors must pay for the course should they wish to attend during either days.
However we welcome all instructors 3rd dan & above who have previously graded though us to the last 3 hours of the blackbelt grading 4-7pm to support the candidates for free.

SEMINAR & GRADING COST 

If you wish to attend the Seminar without grading you are welcome. 

You do not have to be grading to attend the Seminar and this is open to all grades!

Cost includes: 2-day seminar, practical examination for grade, free buffet on Saturday night after seminar.

Should you pass cost includes A3 gold embossed WUMA black belt certificate.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS GRADING
 
1 - Minimum training time: 1st Dan = 3 years, 2nd Dan = 2 years since last grading, 3rd Dan = 3 years since last grading and so on.
2 - Participants must have abided by the student codes & shown correct attitude.
3 - Participants grading must complete the Blackbelt Seminar (2 Days)
4 - Participants must bring their own sparring full protective equipment.
5 - Participants must wear the full protective equipment including headguards while sparring.
6 - All styles of Martial Arts will be marked on 'controlled' sparring.
7 - Participants must bring their seminar/grading payments in cash, enveloped with their licence in and name on
7 - Participants must be dressed in their clean & ironed club uniform.
8 - Only Martial Arts clothing is acceptable, dress code influences your grading marks.
9 - All participants must show at least 2 weapon & 2 empty-hand defences.
10 - HQ will assess your syllabus plus mixed freestyle techniques, padwork and shadow boxing.
11 - Traditional Arts will need to perform 3 katas, forms or patterns.
12 - No spectators during the seminar or the grading.
13 - The grading results will be forwarded to you by recorded mail or email, there is no set timeframe.
14 - As a last test of will power & personal discipline you, your family, club & instructor must not contact WUMA HQ to ask about your grading results!
15 - All Applicants must have a valid WUMA Licence
 
Please note: We will not test participants on techniques they have never learnt. The grading commands will be given in the english language. When failing a grading there is no charge to re-grade.
